What is supraglenoid tubercle of scapula?

The supraglenoid tubercle is a small, bony protuberance located on the superior margin of the scapula, just above the glenoid cavity. It serves as the attachment site for the long head of the biceps brachii muscle, a muscle that originates from the supraglenoid tubercle and inserts on the radial tuberosity of the forearm. The supraglenoid tubercle is also an important landmark for orthopedic surgeons during shoulder replacement surgeries.
